Ian Harcourt managing director of the firm said: “We didn’t have to do any tremendous searching around the market, it was something that we wanted and was more of an upgrade really.
“It’s a newer model and it will hopefully have a lot of life in it. Folding machines tend to wear out the same as presses and other machines when they’re heavily worked so hopefully this is here for a while. It can fold quickly and runs through work quite quickly, so is a bit of an enhancer for the finishing department.”
The MBO has four buckle plates and can run at maximum speeds of up to 205 m/min with a maximum sheet size of 1,000 x 660 mm.
He continues, “It does have some automation features but is not fully automated so requires a bit of input from the operator.”
The firm, which has 25 staff members produces a wide range of commercial print, which including brochures, magazines, posters and pull-up banners, along with a budding t-shirt printing service.
The MBO will join Harcourt's Ricoh digital press, Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 75 purchased in 2016 and a broad range of finishing equipment.
Purchased for around £70,000, MBO B26 Semi Automatic buckle folder
Stuart Bamford, UK & Ireland Sales Manager for Friedheim international says, "The B-26 is a great machine, it's a work horse and just eats jobs. The B series which also includes the B30 have been around for a long time and are the number one choice for print finishers which is a very good indication of their reliability, performance and ability to fold pretty much any imposition. The B series and their sister the K70 are incredible value for money, you can buy three or four of these for the price of the more modern automated machines. Everyone should consider this when talking to Friedheim or other folding machinery suppliers. The B series are also very popular in the used market as they are relatively very cheap to maintain and last for decades."
